In high school (Algonquin) I had a teacher who used to play steel guitar at Chet's from time to time. Why I never went I don't know. Still kicking myself over that one.

[...] Chet’s Diner — But this was the real delight — the Framingham View blog has several wonderful old photos of the diner, taken around 1940. They are smoky night shots, inside and out, that look like something straight out of an old movie — very cinema noir! Amazing. [...]

Chet's is still in business run by the same family you remember from the 1980's although Jimmy (not Chet, Chet was original owner way back) has since passed on.
Ann (the daughter) is mainly running it with her husband (former big league pitcher, Maek Fydrich). Her mother Nancy has had some health problems in recent years but still comes in from time to time, (last time I was there, December, 2007).

Bands would play here frequently in the 1990s like Childhood, Sheez Late, Huck, and other local bands. It was loud, yet cozy. A little back room on the East side of the diner that was at a lower level than the main diner yielded a place where conversations could be had out of the main blast area of the evening's entertainment.

The fare was excellent, and it was modestly priced as were drinks. The staff was extremely friendly.

Lots of fond memories of Chet's Diner. Though I don't live in MA anymore, I believe it is still in business. I'll have to check next time I'm up for a visit.

Loved having a western for lunch at Chet's Diner. Those were the days in the l980s
when I worked at Metro Corporate Center in Marlboro.. Chet, the Mrs. and their daughter were so lovely, friendly and personable. Is it still in business?
